ty based togashi for acknowledging that human beings don’t always 100% blindly stick to their values especially during times of extreme turmoil and inner stress and end up doing things they regret b/c of it. ty for writing characters to reflect that. ty for writing realistically flawed characters that are still overall good people. ty for not being a chicken and going down the “THE GOOD GUYS ALWAYS DO THE RIGHT THING!!” route. i love you
now that i’m thinking about it, the arcs in Hunter x Hunter with more women in the cast (York New, Chimera Ant, Election) are just so much more interesting than the arcs with fewer (Hunter Exam, Heaven’s Arena).
does anyone else think so or is it just me?
i just want to get something off my chest because i’ve been thinking about it a lot lately. for a shounen manga author, Togashi is generally pretty good about women. he usually writes respectful, compelling female characters, with very minimal fan-service.
the only problem is, he doesn’t write enough of them! there are always, always dozens of men in the foreground and background in every single arc, while there will be only like six or seven women in each arc total. seriously, i’ve counted. (i was so sad the day i realized there were no women in the Heaven’s Arena arc except for Machi and the nameless announcer girls.)
so when people ask if Hunter x Hunter has a lot of great women in the cast, I’m always so hesitant to say yes, because, I mean!!! They’re there, and they’re great and i love them all. But there are just not many of them per arc, and some of the best ones don’t even show up until York New. I feel like people who are used to women-heavy casts like Sailor Moon, Steven Universe, or even Homestuck, would just be so disappointed (and believe me, they have been).
I just landed from a 15 hour flight and 15 hours is LONG. Not to spoil how I spent 70% of that time but:

For real though I’m what you might call Concerned™ about Gon’s priorities.
Gon: *watches several dozen people plummet off a cliff to their death* Gon: 😀 Gon: *watches another man die when a huge man-eating bird plucks him off the rock wall* Gon: 😀 Gon: *watches Killua just. Fucking rip out a guy’s heart. Literally that.* Gon: 😀 Gon: *raids the fresh corpse of a fellow contestant for the antidote to the snakes currently killing him* Gon: 😀 Gon: *gets accused of not really considering Killua his Friend* Gon: >>>>>:/
Starting tomorrow we are goint to stream hxh 2011 version again! it’s 10 episodes a day (4 hours) starting at 8 pm at turkish timezone~ we do it on rabbit and this is the list of episodes we watch each day~

i should have waited another chapter to release my succession war speculation since we got all this new info on the 2nd and 3rd princes now! aw well i couldn’t have known.
Opinions on the new Princes: Camilla is conceited and bratty and i’m not sure if i like her? but she’s very pretty and her nen beast looks menacing in this chapter, so i’ll wait and see what happens. i just hope she’s not the first of the 5 oldest princes to die just because she’s the most immature. although it seems really likely at this point.
We also saw a bit more of Zhang Lei, and he seems calm and rational, so he has some potential to be a contender. However, none of his bodyguards know anything about nen and that puts him at a severe disadvantage among the older princes (actually i can’t remember if Camilla has anyone either? so maybe they are even there). he does show some contempt for whoever went after the baby first (after he hears all of Woble’s bodyguards are dead), but i’m not sure if that shows any deeper compassion or just a general observation.
We also saw quite a bit more of Benjamin this chapter, which fleshed him about a bit more. Apparently he knows nen, but he still can’t see his guardian beast? It seems like a strange rule to for Togashi to include, but i guess we will see how it goes. We also learned that while Benjamin has a short temper, he is also quick to calm down and plan when presented with new information. He will probably last longer than I initially gave him credit for (unless something unexpected happens.)
also lol, Kurapika caught the attention of three of the top 5 princes because he made the announcements about the nen beasts. and they’re all wondering about his motives when he was just announcing the situation to his own allies |D. hopefully nothing horrible happens to him as a result (although maybe one of the princes will offer him a way to Tserriednich if he betrays Oito and Woble, and he will have to make a difficult choice?? exciting!!)
When I was in elementary school, the book I bought for the first time was HUNTER × HUNTER ✨ Reading over and over again and making plenty of interest in the fun of the work, and … I fell in love with

I went to see a musical and became more interested in the occupation of a voice actor, I could not stay even if I could stay even though I was a producer in the lobby calling out without thinking my dream.

… It’s strange. It is a work which has my work changed many times without fail.
Both anguish, conflict and loneliness, the emotions never before tasted beyond that are my only treasures.
Even though the animation is over, Killua is in me forever. I can call it anytime (laugh)
I also dream of a day when I can adventure with him and everyone else … Write such a wish in the strip of my heart …
