“I am Killua Zoldyck, your examiner for the third phase of the
hunter exam.” he appears on a huge screen, sucking a chocolate pocky stick.
“Welcome to my castle, losers.”Please, please, please, please.
@murderxbaby hey you can read about how i imagined killua’s test will be. its not edited so bear with me:
“This exam is very simple. Each of you will get a number somewhere
on their body, and this castle contains numbered scrolls, but no one scroll has
the number on any single one of you. as I’m sure some of you idiots has already
understood, you gotta team up with one other person. you have to get down to
the garden in the center with a scroll corresponding to your numbers. Let’s say
grandma there is number 2, and the tall guy there is number 5, if you team up
and get scroll number 7, and get down to the garden in time, you pass. but,
there’s a catch. the garden can’t be reached easily, and there are doors that
can only be opened with a combination of three or more different numbers, but
you can only pass as a team of two. if you kill another examinee, their number
becomes yours. aaaaand…. you have to do all this wearing roller blades. also,
there’s a ghost girl whose spirit wanders the castle, and if she touches you,
you’re disqualified (it’s actually just nanika). good luck.”they ask him whats this test about and he gives them a broad smile: “its about making friends.” and everyone is like we’re fucked. association exam committee has to intervene because roller blades??? the fuck killua??? (but the tigers are okay. u can keep the tigers part of the test)
My son. This is exactly like him.
I bet he had talked to Gon about the test, but then went ahead with something completely different. so Gon is running the fourth phase, and when only 5 people show up, he gets super mad at Killua, and throws this huge tantrum about it, and they just end up wrestling eachother while the remaining five participants stand there confused. At which point killlua realizes that Gon is not going to calm down and be sensible (as if he was) so he just waves them on to the final stage while gon sits there and pouts.
yeah and like i imagined gon’s test to just be “catch the Lord of the Lake that’s it” and everyone is baffled??? why is it so easy compared to the previous test??? but it;s not easy and gon is so mad because there are only five examinees left?? he was preparing for a much larger number? and he’s fighting with killua and then gon waddles into the lake and catches the gigantic fish with his own hands, and throws it at killua and everyone are like this is it. this is the hunter exam its fucked up. hunters are fucked up.
and back in phase one leorio and kurapika nearly disqualify the whole lot of them because tonpa is there and leorio loses his shit on principle if nothing else
READ FROM LEFT TO RIGHT
here’s a comic based on my “40 something year old Killua somehow ends up back in time and fixes some stuff” au
Alluka thinks Killua is an uncle, and Nanika is convinced he is actually Silva but nice.
~40 something yr old killua travelling back in time to beginning of hxh would be soooooooooooooooo good lol
some guy that looks like silva but just slightly different showing up and wanting to help young gon and killua but killua totally doesnt trust him, and gon has little interest in anyone really helping him find his dad because what he really wants is the work/adventure in finding ging on his own
also this is a lot of random word barf
Also here’s a Controversial ™ opinion that’s been on my mind this morning:
Ging and Yusuke really aren’t that alike at all
(I know you’re at the dmv buuuuut this got long)
so this is in part because I am four hundred thousand percent biased towards yusuke, but I agree? and well, it almost seems on the surface that ging and yusuke would be similar: they look a lot alike, they’re both grouches, they’re both scary good at what they do.
yusuke starts unhappy, and that unhappiness with his life in general is only made worse because of his home life, his lack of interest in school (another point that ging contrasts with, cuz he’s gotta be the very best etc etc), his lack of friends to tie him down. but while that makes yusuke unhappy, I get the feeling it’s because he was encouraged to not try. (case in point: how all of his teachers, and basically everyone but keiko and the principal, do their damnedest to screw him over.)
ging never does anything he doesn’t want to do. he is canonically one of the smartest, most powerful nen users, and he uses that to do what he wants, damn anyone else around. I get the feeling not too many people told him no, and the ones that did weren’t able to back it up. yusuke, once he’s given the opportunity, tries his hardest in the worst situations (and complains the whole time, but who can blame him). and he uses his powers to help and change. he’s a kid who’s seen the worst in the world, and wants to make it better anyways.
ging strikes me as a classic “too powerful for school” sort of shonen hero, taken to its logical extreme: antisocial, acerbic but liked by his friends, utterly disliked by people he doesn’t care about; a cool friend but a shitty person. and I say this as someone who actually likes this trash can. yusuke cares so much he dies for it. twice. and he’s happier for it in the end. he starts apparently only caring for himself, but when given the chance to grow and friends to care about, he becomes more selfless than anyone.
I guess at the end of it all, ging tries to stay in the present and take life as it is cuz that’s what affects him. yusuke lives in the present but he also hopes for a better future because that’s what affects the people he loves.
some sketches of @softkillua & @xyliane sad fic/meta post where killua is killed by pitou instead of kite 8′’’^)
do you know how the name “gon san” came about? is it canon? i dont remember.
oh there is actually kind of a funny story to this.
so, japanese fandom gave him that nickname when he debuted in the manga back in 2010. “san” is a honorific in japanese so essentially he is being called “mr. gon” lol.
anyway, in 2014 when the hilarious bandai figure was released, fans noticed that the file name was GONSAN.jpg and that’s when it became quasi-official. as far as i know togashi hasn’t used the term (i don’t think gon-san has ever come up in an interview?) but it’s basically elevated fanon at this point.
Hey, I don’t know if someone already asked this (kind of new to the fandom), but the post about how would Gon react if Ikalgo couldn’t save Killua kind of made me think. If Killua had died in Kite’s place, would Gon react any different, harsher maybe? Ps: I LOVED THE IDEA IF A SENSE 8 AU!! P.s.s: sorry if something is wrong english is not my first language😅
softkillua-deactivated20180521:
Hello, anon! So, first off, your english is fine! Don’t worry, you’re doing well! And I’m glad you liked the idea of a Sense8 AU, I’m unsure what the next writing venture will be after my planned ones. After CSM, the Assassin AU will be a long multi-chap fic. Also, no one has asked this question before but just like last time, I’m going to put this reply under a Read More.
in the case of killua being killed instead of kite (and gon self-destructing in front of everyone, whether or not he dies there are some things that no one is going to forget least of all what happened to him and some things you can’t undo)
killua is the one who comes back as an ant
and at first, he’s too young or out of it to get what’s going on.
it becomes fairly obvious that this kid isn’t a normal ant or a normal boy. the doctors do their best to take care of the ant boy, but he grows from penny-sized to boy-sized in a week or less, and they don’t know what to do. the ants don’t either, but colt tries at least. morel and knuckle and shoot come by, and the boy obviously recognizes them, grin too wide for his face and horribly familiar.
killua’s too small and things are still too much. but the first words he says, the ones that make the people around him realize this isn’t an ant this is killua, is “where is gon?”
there’s an odd feeling, because it’s great that killua’s not dead! but gon is, or worse than dead. and kite would have to explain it to this ant who doesn’t look like killua or sound like him but acts disconcertingly like the thirteen year old boy he’d come to know, kite would have to explain that gon’s dead. to watch the light in his eyes break, because killua knows that he wasn’t there for his best friend.
and just because he died trying to protect him, half-paralyzed between illumi’s needle and pitou’s en and how he needs to run, well. no matter how many times kite says it’s not, if anything it’s kite who wasn’t strong enough or a good enough mentor, it still feels like it’s his fault. and it’s not like sacrificing himself did much good, so why be brought back at all.
oh no this opened a can of worms and I have more thoughts I’m so sorry @softkillua this is still your fault
after kite leaves, and the rest of the hunters leave for the election but more to give killua some space, leorio drops by. with both gon and killua dead at the start, there wasn’t much of a reason for him to take part in the election, except to show up and punch ging in the face for allowing this to happen.of course leorio punches ging on national television. it just happens that this one happens out of grief and not frustration, and he storms out in tears rather than stick around and look at ging at all. (ging agrees he deserved it, not that he talks about it.)
there isn’t much leorio has to say, and there’s nothing killua wants to hear. but it’s comforting for both of them, to sit and acknowledge that they failed. leorio talks a little about nothing, about med school and about his home, about his family. nothing but white noise. and leorio’s been through this before. as awful as it is, as long as you’re alive, and have something to hope for… the wounds don’t leave, but they heal a little.
killua vanishes the next day.
what are your thoughts on the idea that gon is very toxic to killua and doesn’t deserve him (especially after everything thats happened in the chimera ant arc) etc etc ???
softkillua-deactivated20180521:
Hellooo, anon! Okay, this might be a litttllee long buut. (also i’m really bad at explaining things, trying to describe what’s in my head can sometimes be hard)
First off, this kind of mind-set seriously boggles me. That either of these kids could be toxic to one another and I’ll tell you why.
They’re children.
You can not hold 12 year-old kids to adult standards. But everyone seems to do so, automatically.
Second of all, at which point didn’t Gon deserve Killua? Because, in practically every episode, you have Gon thanking Killua for being there, telling him how much he means. Like why?? Would you tell this child??? He doesn’t??? Deserve his best goddamn friend????? WHYYYYY!!!!!
The point I really want to make and drive home about these two characters is they are children. Sure, they might be 14/15 by the end of the arc but what EXACTLY does that mean? Beyond the physical and physiological changes.. You throw two little boys into a fucking war. They understand what death is but they want everyone, EVERYONE to live-despite themselves. You murder someone they care about, someone they greatly valued.
Here’s the thing about Gon, it’s incredibly clear he does not value himself. It’s entirely clear he doesn’t think he is deserving or worth anything or anyone’s time. Kill him, he’s okay with that, he’ll fight until it’s over.
Kill someone he loves? Someone that got involved with a fight because of him? Just because they were near him?
How do you tell a child that already hates himself that it wasn’t his fault? That it’s not his fight? That it’s okay to break down and feel his pain?
Who the fuck even asked him? No one.
Instead, every single adult on hxh literally took advantage of this child’s grief, loss, confusion and anger, of his misanthropy because they knew they could use it. [i.e. when Morel wanted to “test” Gon] Every adult in these two boys’ life, FAILED them. They’re strong, but so what? They’re not soldiers!
So, imagine being 14. You hate yourself and you are willing to literally throw yourself in front of ANYONE to take a bullet because you don’t matter, because everyone is more important than you’ll ever be, because everyone is amazing (including your best friend, who you think you don’t deserve anyway). Imagine looking up to someone who you not only have a past with (and has saved your life, twice already) but who has a link to your future. Who shows you kindness and compassion. And then imagine on a cold night, that person is taken away from you completely. Imagine wanting that person back so bad, holding that belief that you’ll get them back, you have to!! Because.. Because.. If you don’t. It’s your fault. It’s all your fucking fault and you’re worthless and they’re dead even though YOU should be and fuck it who fucking caress, if they’re dead, you wanna be dead anyway!
These kids are filled with grief. They don’t truly understand and no one gives a shit if they do, anyway.
Which part of this makes them undeserving of one another?
One who is so lost to his own darkness and his best friend who is just struggling to keep hold of him because he cares about him so much and never wants to see him break or struggle.
The only person Gon Freecss is toxic to–is himself.
Even if you want to get into the “Since it means nothing to you” comment, you still have a kid whose hell bent on revenge and heartbroken, filled to the brim and overflowing with his emotion simply taking his anger out on someone who asked him to stop. But who else asked before that? I’m pretty sure we covered it and it was no one. Gon went into that fight, alone. Gon wanted to murder Neferpitou or die trying, alone.
You didn’t allow these kids to feel a fucking thing. You took advantage of their pain for your war. Anything to get the job done, right? ‘Cause that’s what hunters do, right?
Anyway, I’m likely rambling now but my point is.
Gon and Killua are kids who were tasked with something everyone should have objected to. They weren’t allowed to deal or sort their feelings, only to bury them until it was the “right” time to unleash them.
How can someone, based off that, unanimously decide that one child is toxic to the other and doesn’t deserve them? Idk man, that’s some shit.
So, no, I don’t think Gon is toxic to Killua and I don’t think he doesn’t deserve him. If anything, I think these kids need to fucking hug each other, flip off Ging and ride off into the goddamn sunset with Alluka/Nanika in tow to live Happily Ever After.
