Summary: It’s nobody’s fault they lost touch, but there’s still plenty of blame to go around. (In which Killua is a terrible role model, Gon hasn’t changed a bit except for where he has, and fights to the death are the solution to everything.)
Comments: Everyone who was devastated by chapter 338 of the manga should read this story. I have never seen a fic before that tackled the aftermath of Gon and Killua’s separation as well as this one. Everything about it is completely cathartic and satisfying on every level. It’s also funny as hell.
I’ve been wondering for a while now if Killua was still planning to leave Gon after the 30 days were up, and he was just using this solo mission as an excuse to separate.
At first I was certain that the events of chapter 218/episode 94 restored his confidence in himself so that he felt he deserved to be by Gon’s side (did Gon ever tell him you don’t need to qualify to be friends?), but now I’m not so sure.
