sometimes i read hxh fic and i feel like a lot of people forget that gon is actually smart????? like he has a hard time understanding math + theoretical stuff
but he’s creative and has shown multiple times that he’s capable of solving difficult problems + he’s very good at reading people
ex. figuring out how to get everyone to pass the trick tower during the hunter exam
escaped with killua from nobunaga
had the highest score on the last quiz on greed island
during his first confrontation with pitou he read pitou VERY quickly and understood immediately that using komugi as a hostage would get what he wanted. like that was fucked up, BUT IT WORKED
like… gon learns very fast if something is explained to him with clear imagery, or if it’s something he can learn first hand, and he’s shown to just have a startling ability at remembering things even when under stress
I’m not sure it was in the anime and I’m tearing up a little this is so damn sweet omg ;;;
i’m always sad when I remember the anime cut out Gon’s scenes with Kon, especially the farewell scene at the end. so sad. 😥
the two of us are just young gods
Ahhh okay so I know not a lot of pple read daemon au stuff but I seriously love it. So. I wrote this as a pre-finals stress reliever/early bday gift to myself bc this week has been hard and I can’t get this scene out of my head.
Daemon au, same universe as ‘my heart is gold but my hands are cold’

“We should take the loss,” Leorio says. His tone leaves no room for argument.
“Why?” Killua asks, sounding genuinely curious. Gon glances at his new friend; Killua’s posture is lax, hands shoved deep in his pockets. Ariney stands off to the side, standing completely still in the form of a grey wolf- the same shape since they entered Trick Tower.
Despite Leorio’s warning, neither of them seem particularly worried about the situation.
Can you analyze Kalluto’s personality? I feel like there hasn’t been enough Kalluto recently -w-
Kalluto’s seen questioning his abilities a lot, yet is simultaneously confident in himself, which could suggest having to work harder to get any recognition from Silva and Illumi and because of that, he feels a real pride in his abilities whenever they are praised. Initially, Kalluto joined the Troupe in order to find Killua, and probably didn’t really think about them at all. He also heavily underestimated them, seeing as he thought he’d be able to climb the ranks and become the number 2 with ease. But it seems, after watching Feitan in combat, that he gained a great deal of respect for them, as well as displaying loyalty towards them as comrades.
In terms of the upbringing of the Zoldyck kids, Illumi and Milluki had the harshest and most lax training regime respectively, and Alluka had little to none, but with Kalluto and Killua they seemed to hit a balance, where their children were able to become proficient assassins while maintaining their personalities and individuality. Kalluto was the Zoldyck child who probably gets the least attention, and that likely affected him. The most outstanding difference between Killu’s and Kallu’s training would be the fact Killua was the heir and favourite while Kalluto was sidelined and forgotten (he does have a close relationship with his mother, but she certainly doted on Killua a lot more). Killua was going to take over and thus Kalluto wasn’t ‘necessary’. In that regard he holds similarity to Milluki.
He has a lot of resolve in his ambitions, leaving home on a quest to retrieve his brother, not caring how long it takes or what he has to do to achieve it. At the same time he is internalised in their convictions, he doesn’t seem to share his feelings around so easily. A lot of what he say about them is through internal monologue.
I think one of the main reasons I like him (enough for him to be one of my favourite characters) is because he holds a lot of potential. He’s a very interesting character I’d like to figure out more about him certainly, there’s a lot of roads you could take and I’d love for them to be explored.
things about killua’s backstory/childhood that were revealed in the official hxh novels from jump j books [togashi co-wrote them]
- once when killua was about 5 or 6, and not immune to poison yet, he was with milluki in the woods and he got stung by a poisonous lizard and ended up paralyzed and convulsing on the ground. milluki saw, but he was too lazy to carry killua home, so he just left him there and killua had to crawl back to the mansion on his hands and knees.
- when killua was REALLY little he once rescued an injured puppy by the side of the road that had been abandoned by its mother. silva encouraged him to raise it as a pet. killua named the dog “wolf” and this dog was his pet for like a year. he was really really really happy with this dog. one day wolf goes missing and killuas looking everywhere for him. silva has him, and he tells killua that wolf has rabies and needs to be put down [it’s heavily implied that he’s lying and killua doesnt know any better because he’s a small child]. killua starts crying but silva keeps telling him that its what he has to do or wolf will keep suffering and die in pain. eventually killua kills the dog and silva congratulates him on being so brave and strong
- it’s also stated that the above story is part of the reason why killua believes that he’ll eventually ruin any good thing that happens to him
- killua used to call kikyo “mama” until one day she tortured canary with electric whips for “being negligent about killua” and killua grabbed onto the whips to try and get her to stop and didnt let go until “…blood was leaking from his ears… his hands were smoking”
Silver x Scars
My part of an art trade with the wonderful @killuashappyplace! I’m sooooo sorry this took so incredibly long ;;__;; This fic was weirdly difficult for me. I hope this is along the lines of what you wanted, though, and that you’re happy with it!!! ^-^

Canon universe
Summary:
“Will you tell me
more about what they did to you?”Killua frowns. His
expression is carefully guarded as he says, “Why? There’s no reason to think
about that stuff. My family did horrible things to all of my siblings. I’m no
different.”“To me, you are,” Gon
says honestly and Killua’s mouth shuts with a click. “And it’s because of that I want you to tell me. I want to…I
want to know every part of you, Killua. The good and the bad. Because we’re friends.”“You want me to
relive my childhood just so you can get to know me better?”Gon bobs his head and
Killua snorts.“You really are
selfish, you know that?”
ichaichalivinglegacy just finished her liveblog of the 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime, and i enjoyed reading it so much I wanted to give it a shoutout.
if you want to watch someone experience the series for the first time, i would recommend checking it out.
you like both d gray man and hxh, so i wanna ask a fun fusion/crossover question! out of the main four hxh characters, who’s more likely to make a deal with the Earl to bring their loved ones back from the dead? :D
a f u n question i think we dunt have the same vision of fun
… trust be told, this is actually a pretty good question. And oh man. Maybe Gon?
Leorio seems to me the most unlikely of the four, while I think the death of loved ones would completely devast him, I don’t especially see him trust the Earl in any way.Although, given particulars reasons, maybe it could happen, but I don’t see it per se.
For Kurapika, well. Considering the amount of people dead around him, I could see him be very tempted by the offer. But also, who to bring back right? I think it’d be Pairo, but, even without knowing the consequences it would imply, would Kurapika has a free conscience of bringing back ONE of his clan members and have to face them going through the thought they are both alone? I think it might be a concern of Kurapika. Especially considering how long ago his fellow clan members died. Honestly I don’t especially see him accepting a barging like that? Especially not out of the blue like that. Maybe when he was younger, but as it is now, he just wants to bring their memories at peace (by revenge and by taking back the eyes spread around the world), but I don’t think he would particularly look to bring one back.
Although I do wonder if he would if one of the other three (and maybe also Melody) would come to die. After all he lost, he would likely not take well the death of another loved one, and in that case, that could be happening. But I still think he’d likely more go after revenge than barging with the Earl.Killua is an assassin and I don’t especially see him do that, except is said person he wants to bring back from the deads would be Gon. If Gon died, I think Killua would probably go “screw the consequences” over it, let’s be real. It’s also possible he would for Alluka as well. So Killua, depending, could totally go along.
And why I think Gon: His reaction when he understood Kite died lead me to think that, if the Earl shows up at such a desperate moment, Gon would have his guard so much down that he would. Like, y’know when Pitou tells him Kite is dead, and he collapses, and while she heals her arm he keeps trying to keep an optimistic mind like “so he’s alive right, and she’ll heal him right this was all a trick” and he’s just so heartbroken. In those kind of event, if the Earl popped up, Gon’s naivety and need to help will likely have him say yes in a heartbeat without thinking much throughout.
S o out of the four, I definetly think Gon would be likely to be the one who’d trust the Earl the most, he’d give anything to get back what he lost. And close behind, I’d say Killua if said loved person is Gon or Alluka.
But Gon is the most likely imo. Thank u for the pain!
Casual reminder that Gon was able to maintain a perfect state of zetsu, before he even learned about nen, in order to stalk Hisoka during the Hunter Exam.
