xyliane:

sorry I have to word vomit about that set of screencaps from Killua saving Ikalgo’s life.

Killua and Ikalgo’s friendship means so much to me. because Killua sees something in Ikalgo almost instantly, that they’re more similar than a boy and an octopus-ant seem to be. but they’re both born killers, they both will give up everything for their friends. but Killua’s already grown enough that he can and will save the lives of people he think deserve it (again, even at the cost of his own). plus he has someone who sees him as the coolest, most important person in the world. he knows what it’s like to hear someone say that you’re important because Gon says it to him all the time.

(then again, Killua’s self esteem issues also tell him that he’s not enough to be Gon’s friend, because these boys need to talk more–because Gon’s so free with his adoration, and Killua’s so closed with his. but Killua’s more than ready to tell Ikalgo how cool he is and look how much this sparky marshmallow has grown)

I don’t think Ikalgo’s ever had anyone to call him “cool” before. someone who thought of him as valuable because he’s an interesting person octopus, not because he’s a soldier. and Killua genuinely believes that Ikalgo is great! this kid will go out on a limb (or take one) for someone trying to kill him when just a year or two earlier he could and would gladly have left that person to die if it inconvenienced him. and Ikalgo returns the favor right after, because there’s a difference between someone saying “you’re useful because you kill well” and “you’re interesting and cool because that’s who you are” and that difference is friendship. and if that doesn’t make my heart burst I don’t know what will.

I really love looking at how the art style and direction of HXH 2011 evolved over the course of four years… I’m sure the budget increased with the success it garnered and that had something (er, a lot) to do with it, but like, it’s still impressive to me that not only were 148 episodes drawn and animated consistently well, but that it consistently kept getting better too??

Just look at the subtle changes in color and shading between the first and last arcs, especially in the eyes. It’s just… REALLY cool and I can’t help but feel that the staff who worked on this series loved it very much.

on the topic of that last point, hunter x hunter 2011 is very interesting bc it was clearly a labor of love on so many levels. megumi han and mariya ise, gon and killua’s voice actresses respectively, grew up with the manga and their roles were like their absolute dream roles to be cast in. i heard that yuzu is fans of the manga and reread it in preparation for writing the ending themes that they did (and the lyrics are def relevant too), and a bunch of the animators were still posting fanart for the series on twitter well after it finished airing. and that’s just that i know of off the top of my head…it’s just one of those things where throughout the whole experience you can just kind of tell there was a ton of love and passion put into it, and it just makes the whole thing so much better as an experence, if that makes sense

If you’re open for prompts: “Person A has had a crush on B forever but now that they’re dating it looks like B is even more excited about it than A is and A just doesn’t understand how that’s possible.” that one sounds cute for killugon ( *´ `*) thank you either way, your stories and prompts are all beautiful..! (including the one that, you know, really crushed my heart ;; )

Aged up, canon universe!

Killua says, heart in his mouth, “Yes.”

Gon’s eyes brighten, like sun breaking through clouds. “You mean it?!”

Killua almost laughs; does he mean it? What kind of joke is that?

“Of course, do you really think I’d agree if I didn’t like you- mph!”

He topples back onto Gon’s bed as the shorter teen crashes into him. Gon’s arms lock around his torso and he squeezes so tightly Killua can hardly breathe.

But that doesn’t matter. Nothing seems to matter except for the soaring feeling in his chest and the way he can’t stop himself from smiling. Gon’s answering grin is so wide his cheeks have to be hurting-

“I can’t believe you said yes!” Gon cries out joyfully.

“You?! I can’t believe you asked me! You’ve always been chased after by all those girls when you were younger-”

“What? No way, none of those were actual dates! Besides, you’ve been to so many different places in the years we were separated, I was so sure you’d find someone else more interesting then me…”

Killua does laugh at that, because that was funny.

“There’ll never be anyone as interesting as you, Gon,” he says and Gon perks up. “Even if there was, I’d never go with them. I’ve never wanted to be with anyone but you.”

“Really?!” Gon bounces against Killua’s chest, making the whole bed frame shake with his boundless energy.

“Ah- yes! Yes! Stop-”

“Do you wanna know how long I’ve liked you, Killua?” Gon asks excitedly.

Killua blinks, heat slowly rising to his face. Just hearing Gon say something like that- that he actually liked Killua, that he’d asked him out only months after they’d been reunited- was like a dream come true.

“I figured out I liked you a year after you left with Alluka,” Gon blurts out  without waiting for Killua to answer. “I mean, I always knew I wanted us to stay together, ever since I saved you from your family. But then I couldn’t stop thinking about you after you’d gone, and I missed hugging you, and taking baths together, and sleeping in the same bed, and sometimes I’d wake up missing the smell of the shampoo you used, and-”

“GON!” Killua interrupts loudly. His face is litterally on fire.

“What? I’m just being honest! I really, really missed you!”

“I- I know that, I missed you too, obviously! But you don’t have to go into that much detail-”

Gon laughs and hugs Killua even closer.

Killua wheezes. The fact that Gon cared that much about him, missed him that much…it was mind blowing. He never in a million years thought he would be so lucky to have the person he loved, love him in return.

“It almost sounds like you’re more excited to date me then I am to date you,” he finally says, breathless.

Gon hums happily. “That’s okay! I can’t wait to take you to so many different places, Killua! I have a bunch of restaurants I want us to eat at, and-”

“Hey, I’m not saying its true!” Killua yelps.

Gon makes a face at him. “Eh, but. I definitely like you more then you like me.”

“No way,” Killua said flatly. “I’ve liked you since the Chimera Ants! At least! That’s a long time for feelings to stew and grow.”

“And I just said I wanted to be with you since the beginning!”

“That’s-” Killua grabs the nearest pillow and shoves it in Gon’s face, “-not the same! Like liking someone is totally different-”

Gon pushes the pillow back at him and throws another for good measure, and soon they’re tackling each other and pillows are flying around the room and everything is laughter and joy and wonder and Killua feels like he could burst from being this happy-

Because Gon is happiness, pure and simple. And Killua will stay by Gon’s side as long as Gon wants him in return.

shonenshameblog:

oohhh killua, buddy, it only gets worse from here on out

Rereading one of my favorite hunter x hunter manga liveblogs, and I just love how Gon’s amorality is portrayed here. He is so eager to take someone hostage and interrogate them, the little bugger. ❤

(also of note, this scene is only a couple pages after Kurapika captured Uvogin and unsuccessfully tried to make him tell him where the other members were… Yoshihiro Togashi is a cruel man.)

oh my god, could I.. request that last prompt you reblogged for Killugon, if you feel like it? The “you disappeared without a trace three years ago” one… I feel like it would work so well, but you don’t have to of course ;7; I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and can enjoy your time at home!!!

decembercamiecherries:

It’s no problem, really ^-^ I like
doing prompts for you guys. I had a great Thanksgiving and I’m having a ton of
fun at home, thank you! I already can’t wait to be back again in a month
ughhhhhh

Here’s the full prompt for those
who haven’t seen it: “You disappeared without a trace three years ago, why the
hell are you at my doorstep at 3 AM and where have you- oh my god your arm is
bleeding, that looks really bad, quick come inside my house”

Modern au

Killua cut the last bandage with a
final snip of his scissors. “Okay. Done.”

Gon lifted his wrapped arm and
flexed his hand. A smile broke across his face. “Thanks, Killua! That feels a
lot better now!”

“Don’t thank me,” Killua grumbled. As
much as he hated to admit it, Gon was his friend. And friends didn’t thank
friends.

He glanced at the clock on the
wall. 3:38. And he had class tomorrow morning. Fuck.

He looked back at Gon, who had that
stupid, idiot grin plastered across his face like absolutely nothing out of the
ordinary was going on.

Killua snapped, “Why are you here,
Gon? You disappear right after high school graduation, don’t respond to any of
my messages for three years, then
show up on my doorstep out of nowhere at three in the morning! I mean, what the
fuck.”

“Eh, well.” Gon scratched his
cheek. “It’s a long story.”

Killua pinched both of Gon’s cheeks
between his fingers- Gon hadn’t lost any of that baby fat during their separation,
it seemed- and pulled.

Owwww, Keellua, stahp! Tha’ hurtsss-”

“Don’t give me any of that crap! I
just bandaged up your arm, so you owe me. Spill it, Gon! Or else, I promise I’ll
make your injury look like a paper cut.”

“Okay, okay, okay!” Gon yelped. “I’m
sorree, I’ll ‘ell yoo!”

Killua smirked and dropped his
hands. “Good. Now, what the hell happened to your arm?”

Gon rubbed his red face, pouting. “I
got hurt when I visited your family’s house.”

Killua blinked, surprised. “You
mean, the one I was living in when we went to school together? I haven’t lived
there since I went to college.”

“Heh, yeah. I found that out the
hard way. Your dog- Mike, that was his name, right?- bit me when I tried to
sneak into your backyard so I could climb to your window.”

“What? Why would you need to talk
to me?” Gon wasn’t making any sense. Which, shouldn’t surprise him, really. He
pointed out, “You’re the one who
ignored me for three years.”

Gon winced. He bowed his head
pitifully and Killua felt a pang somewhere deep in his chest.

“I- I know. And I didn’t mean to, I
swear! I just- when we graduated high school, I found out that…that I’m…”

“Gon,” Killua said through clenched
teeth. “I swear to god, if you don’t start talking in three seconds, I’m going
to-”

“I found out I’m royalty!” Gon
blurted out.

…what?!

“What?” Killua said stupidly.

Gon grimaced. “It’s true. This guy
called Kite came to me and Aunt Mito’s house and told me that my Dad was
leaving Whale Island, and that it was time for me to take my rightful place as
the island’s heir. It’s this super small native place in the middle of the
ocean; it’s totally isolated from the rest of the world, so I couldn’t contact
you to let you know where I was going or anything. It-”

Gon’s face twisted in pain. “-it
made me feel so horrible, that I couldn’t talk to you. Or hear your voice, or
touch your hand. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to leave, just so I
could see your smile again.”

Killua stared at him, unblinking,
and his heart ached. Gon’s expression reflected Killua’s own loneliness all too
well. Years of thinking he’d been abandoned by his only and best friend left
Killua feeling like he’d been stabbed.

But. Gon was here, now. That was
all he could focus on for the moment.

Killua inhaled deeply. “You stayed
there, though.”

“I- yeah. I couldn’t just neglect
all the citizens who lived in Whale Island, Killua. I couldn’t.”

“I get that,” Killua snapped, trying and failing to hide his bitterness over the
fact that Gon had chosen a bunch of random strangers
over him. It was dumb, it was
stupid, but he felt it all the same. “So, why did you come back?”

To his complete and total shock,
Gon blushed.

“Um. See, the thing is, once
citizens of Whale Island turn twenty-two, they’re expected to…find a spouse.”

Killua waited but Gon didn’t say
anything else. His face just kept turning darker and darker as he stared intensely at
Killua. It was kind of creepy, actually.

“Okay,” Killua said after a pause. “What
does that have to do with you coming to see me, specifically?”

Gon pouted. “Killua.”

“Gon,” Killua parroted back, annoyed. Why
was Gon acting so weird?! Killua didn’t want to deal with this right now. He was tired, he was cranky, he had a paper due in
two days that he hadn’t even started thinking about yet, and-

“Killua,” Gon said abruptly,
scattering Killua’s thoughts to the wind. “-I’m saying that I came back to find
you, and ask you if you wanted to come back to Whale Island with me.”

He paused. Then, slowly, he said-

“As my fiancé.”

And Killua’s brain came to a
screeching halt.
